• Hot rolled black is manufactured by thermomechanical processing of slabs from steelmaking through ArcelorMittal Dofasco’s modernized 7-stand hot mill into a steel coil at the required thickness. As a normal result of hot rolling, the steel carries a surface oxide (scale).
  • Hot rolled pickled and oiled is produced by removing the hot roll scale by acid pickling and applying oil for protection or lubrication. This operation is done at ArcelorMittal Dofasco’s in house continuous pickle line with tension leveling or an outside processor.
