OTTAWA (CIS) – Canadian Interuniversity Sport proudly announced Tuesday a multi-year agreement with ArcelorMittal Dofasco.
The long-term partnership, effective immediately, sees ArcelorMittal Dofasco become the title sponsor for both women’s and men’s CIS basketball championships, the Mitchell Bowl national football semi-final and the CIS athletes of the week program.
The 2014 ArcelorMittal Dofasco CIS men’s basketball championship gets under way Friday, March 7, in Ottawa, while the women’s competition is set to begin March 14 in Windsor, Ont. Both tournaments will showcase the very best of Canadian university basketball in an exciting final 8 single-elimination format.
“We are extremely excited to welcome ArcelorMittal Dofasco to the CIS family,” said Pierre Lafontaine, chief executive officer of CIS. “We are in the business of inspiring Canada’s next generation of leaders and ArcelorMittal Dofasco epitomizes what leadership and excellence are all about. We’re looking forward to a long and exciting partnership.”
Tony Valeri, Vice President Corporate Communications and Public Affairs of ArcelorMittal Dofasco, is equally thrilled about the new partnership.

We’re proud to support student athletes in Canada as they too make bold statements in their pursuit of excellence in academics and athletics.
“Our partnership with CIS reflects our commitment to excellence and our high regard for organizations and people that strive to be the best.
