“We are pleased to present a cheque for $10,000 to each of you in order to help you continue to deliver important services in our community,” Employee Donations Fund committee member Junior Charles (Pickling and Cold Rolling) told the gathering. “Thank you for the work that you do. The Employee Donations Fund has been around since the 1940s and the employees of this great company continue to contribute a little bit each pay in order to invest in charitable organizations in our community.”

The Employee Donations Fund began in 1943 as the “Charity Chest” in support of the Red Cross during World War II. Over the years, ArcelorMittal Dofasco employees have raised an impressive $490 million through the Employee Donations Fund. Every penny has gone to benefit organizations doing important, charitable work in our Hamilton community. Managed by employees, the fund invested $535,500 in the Hamilton community in 2014.
