World Habitat Day is the one day set aside annually to recognize the basic right of all humanity to adequate shelter, and to encourage grassroots action toward ending poverty housing. The United Nations General Assembly declared in 1985 that the first Monday in October would be World Habitat Day.

Habitat for Humanity is joining with its partners around the world to rededicate themselves to a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Here in Hamilton, Habitat for Humanity Hamilton is hosting a build day at the Knapmans Drive site (just off Beach Boulevard) site and have also had a lunch to recognize partners.

Our Team Orange is a regular contributor to local builds, having attended 5 build days with 530 volunteer hours so far in 2015. Our team members love to participate, including retired employees who can often be found working on construction sites and the ReStore. Our company and employees have also invested $266,000 since 2003 (from our Corporate Community Investment Fund and our Employee Donations Fund).

Congratulations to Habitat for Humanity Hamilton for the great work you are spearheading in ensuring that Hamilton families in need have access to affordable housing!
