Slated to open in fall 2015, the Child and Youth Outpatient Mental Health Program will be part of a redeveloped McMaster Children’s Health Centre, the only of its kind in Canada offering a breadth and combination of services in a purpose-built facility designed to meet the specialized needs of children with physical, mental and developmental challenges.

The Children’s Mental Health Outpatient Program provides a much needed addition to the continuum of care in our community, as well as takes a leadership position in de-stigmatizing mental health illnesses which affect so many children, youth and their families in Southern Ontario.

“For more than 100 years, the importance of people and community has been a part of the ArcelorMittal Dofasco story. Today’s gift is testimony to the company’s continued commitment as it represents a recognition that the epidemic of mental health issues amongst the young today, left untreated or continuously stigmatized, will directly impact the future health of our community”, said Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation, President and CEO, Pearl Veenema.

“In 2010, ArcelorMittal Dofasco made a substantial gift to the St. Joseph’s Healthcare West 5th Campus because we believe in the power of bringing mental health and medical care together. The McMaster Children’s Health Centre is taking a similar approach, meeting a challenge head on and devising an innovative, world class solution to make change. This is how we approach our business – focusing on continuous improvement that drives innovative solutions”, said ArcelorMittal Dofasco, President and CEO, Sean Donnelly.
