ArcelorMittal Dofasco, Canada’s largest flat roll steel producer, would like to honour Indigenous cultures and perspectives by showcasing Indigenous art in our Reconciliation Action Plan.
We would like to commission a piece of traditional or contemporary Indigenous art to support a reconciliation project in our organization. We are looking for a two-dimensional artwork, such as painting (any medium), digital illustration, textile, collage, or line drawing, with a maximum size of 3 x 4 feet.
Whether you are an experienced artist or just beginning your creative journey, we would be honoured to receive your expression of interest at the link below. Submissions will be reviewed by a panel of Indigenous and non-Indigenous members of our project team and representatives from the local art community.
Artist fees:
• The final artist fee will be negotiated based on the scope of the proposed artwork
• The fee will include commission, licensing fees, materials and any installation cost
• Licensing details will be discussed and negotiated with the artist
Important dates:
• Please submit your expression of interest by August 30, 2024
• Shortlisted artists will be invited to share more about their work by September 14, 2024
• The selected artist will be notified by September 23, 2024
• Final artwork will need to be completed by November 8, 2024

ArcelorMittal Dofasco is Canada’s largest flat roll steel producer, located on the traditional territories of the Erie, Neutral, Huron-Wendat, Haudenosaunee, and Mississaugas in Hamilton, Ontario. We are currently developing a Reconciliation Action Plan to help guide our reconciliation efforts and create a positive impact for Indigenous communities on whose lands we operate - and beyond. The selected artwork will guide the visual identity of the Reconciliation Action Plan and may be featured in other reconciliation initiatives at ArcelorMittal.
