As we see cases on the rise and as we have experienced our first case, we want to share our response protocols.

We have learned that a Finishing colleague in Pickling and Cold Roll tested positive for COVID-19 after having contact with someone away from work who tested positive.

All response actions were taken swiftly and appropriately. Our response actions are based on the guidance provided by the Government of Canada and Public Health and led and administered by our Health and Safety and Medical Services Teams.

When an employee displays symptoms or has had close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 (whether at work or home) they are required to self-isolate at home for 14 days, while monitoring for symptoms and following direction given by Medical Professionals.

In addition, our Support Services team oversees an immediate thorough protocol for enhanced cleaning and disinfection of the area.

If an employee tests positive for COVID-19, colleagues who have been in close contact must then self-isolate, monitor for symptoms and follow prevention guidelines and recommendations provided by the Government of Canada and Public Health. Leaders and our Medical Services Team will oversee the steps to be taken. Return to work in any of these circumstances is only possible through clearance by our Medical Services Team, in conjunction with a Family Physician or Public Health.

We wish our colleague a speedy recovery from the virus and will continue to monitor his colleagues who are now in self-isolation.
